Shannon Gaye

Following a year off, Shannon, Kristian and the Ben are back on the patio at earls. What can we say! It’s a perfect fit. Shannon Gaye and her trio have not been idle in that year. They have a brand new CD Little Wonder that they will be featuring at JazzFest this year. The recoding pays homage to vintage soul and R&B, with Shannon’s own modern spin. Co-written & produced by pianist extraordinaire Kristian Alexandrov, the new recording features solid grooves, evocative lyrics, and the sophisticated harmony that defines the jazz idiom. From the most delicate melodies to sky high, roof-raising licks, Shannon is in full command of her voice.

This longtime band is rounded out with bassist Ben Harries and together, they create a tight rhythm section that forms the basis for strong melodies and fiery improvisation. With a middle name that gives a nod to the great Marvin Gaye, Shannon’s musical influences include Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder as well as Ella Fitzgerald and Anita O’Day.
