Kool Ray & the Hip Katz

This Medicine Hat-based dance band was formed in 2006 and has been putting in regular appearances at JazzFest ever since. Showcasing music that spans hits from the fifties to the present, this group of experienced professional musicians features full rhythm and horn sections, powerhouse vocals, and a reputation for keeping the dance floor hopping!

Co-led by Ray Martens on keyboards and drummer James Evangelos, the group features Will Nickel on trumpet, Mark Ward on trumpet and vocals, Bob Wagner on bass, Pete Mueller on guitar, Erica Bodnaruk on sax and vocals, and Teague Bates on trombone.
