This year we are presenting long time JazzFest participant, drummer Tyler Hornby in trio with another long time JazzFest performer keyboardist Kristian Alexandrov and bassist Jeremy Coates.
Former schoolmates, these three have a history to their collaborations. While they have all gone in many directions, JazzFest is pleased to bring them back together for what promises to be an exciting mix of original tunes from various projects under the leadership of Hornby.
Tyler holds a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance / Pedagogy from the University of Colorado and is an instructor at Mount Royal University. He has been nominated for the Galaxie Rising Star Award as well as the grand jazz award at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. His 2011 recording, A Road to Remember was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Awards prize for Best Jazz Recording of the Year. His latest CD, Locus was released in March 2013 and features the Tyler Hornby B3 Trio.
